We often hear the old joke that goes like this: put five Anglicans in a room, ask them one question, and you'll get five different answers. This is, unfortunately, true to some degree. However, the Anglican realm is not a free for all. There are really three main Anglican camps. Which we will define below. Anglican Catholic An Anglican Catholic (specifically in communion with or in the G-2 Continuum) is one that is the "Via Media" between the East (Orthodoxy) and the West (Catholicism). We here in this mission station fall into this "camp". Essentially, we are one of the smaller brothers of the visible One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. Known as HIGH Church. Broad Anglican Next you have a different kind of an Anglican. That which is something more like the "Via Media" between the RCC and the Reformers. This, in a historical consensous, is the main definition of the Church of England. Now, the Church of England stands (today) in heresy and lost. Meaning, it is no longer in Apostolic Succession. Never the less, you have groups we are in the middle of the historic Church and the Reformers that go by different names. These are seen as MIDDL Church. Evangelical Anglican These Anglicans resemble the Reformation in its fullest. Often times, when attending a service with these Anglicans, you will get the modern church scene and non-denom vibes. By definition, they are very LOW Church. Conclusion Anglicanism is not some stand-alone sect. We are unique and conformative at the same time. To better understand this, I will leave you with a very beautiful podcast video that explains this much better than I ever could! HERE: Anglican Ecclesiology With love in Christ, Dan
